Values-Based Next Step

For when emotions are loud and you need a decision that still sounds like you tomorrow morning. Four questions, one choice.

Safety note: This worksheet is educational and is not emergency care, therapy, or a diagnosis. If you may hurt yourself or someone else, call 911 or call or text 988 now.

Type straight into the boxes. Your answers save in this browser on this device only — never sent anywhere, never seen by anyone else.

01 The situation

What is actually in front of you, stated plainly and without the case for either side.

02 What the emotion wants me to do

Be honest, including the satisfying options — send the message, cancel, say nothing, go quiet, leave. This is information, not a verdict.

03 What that would cost

Emotion-led choices usually work in the next ten minutes and charge interest after that. What is the interest here?

04 The values that matter here

Two or three words. Honesty, patience, loyalty, courage, steadiness, fairness, faith, being someone my kids can count on.

05 One next step that honours them

Specific and doable today. Not the whole resolution — the next honest step.

06 How I will know I did it

Something observable. “I felt better” is hard to check; “I sent one message before Thursday” is not.
