What this website collects, and what it doesn’t.

Short answer: almost nothing. Everything you type into a worksheet or tool stays in your own browser. The only thing that leaves your device is a consultation request, and only if you send one.

Last updated Applies to this website only

The short version

  • Worksheets and tools save to your own browser. Nothing you type into them is transmitted, and nobody — including Dennis — can see it.
  • There are no accounts, no logins, no advertising trackers, no analytics, and no cookies set by this site.
  • The consultation form is the one exception: it sends what you type to the practice so a reply is possible.

What stays on your device

Every fill-in worksheet and every tool in the resource library saves your work using localStorage, a small storage area inside your own web browser. That data never travels to a server. It is not backed up, not synced between your phone and your laptop, and not visible to the practice.

These are the only things this site stores, and all of them live on your device:

Stored underWhat it holds
ew.worksheet.…Your answers on a fill-in worksheet, one entry per worksheet, plus the date you last edited it.
ew.reframe.v1Whatever you have typed into the reframe workspace.
ew.checkins.v1Your mood and stress check-ins for the tracker chart — a number from 1 to 10 for each, plus a note, for up to the last 60 days.

On a shared or public computer, this matters. Because the work saves locally, the next person using that browser profile could open the same page and read it. If you are using a device other people have access to, use the clear button on the worksheet when you finish, or use a private browsing window so nothing is kept.

The consultation form

If you fill in the consultation request form, that information does leave your device. It is the only part of the site that transmits anything.

What gets sent

Your name, email address, phone number if you provide one, the general reason you selected, how you would prefer to be contacted, your general availability, and whatever you write in the message box.

Where it goes

Submissions are handled by Netlify, which hosts this site, and are stored in the practice’s account there. A notification is emailed to drsteel01@gmail.com. Only Dennis has access to the account.

Why the form asks you to keep it brief

An intake form on a public website is a reasonable way to say “I would like to talk” and a poor place to describe a mental health history in detail. That is why the form asks for a sentence or two rather than clinical detail — not because the detail does not matter, but because the secure place for it is the consultation itself, once identity is confirmed and the conversation is protected.

How long it is kept

Consultation requests are kept as long as needed to respond and to maintain a record of business inquiries, then deleted. If you would like your request deleted sooner, email and ask; it will be removed.

What this site never does

  • No advertising or tracking pixels. There is no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no ad network, and no third-party tracking script of any kind on any page.
  • No cookies set by this site. Nothing here writes a cookie, so there is no cookie banner to dismiss.
  • No accounts. The resource library is open to everyone. There is nothing to sign up for and no password to create.
  • No selling or sharing. Your information is not sold, rented, traded, or handed to a marketing list. It is not used to build a profile of you.
  • No retargeting. Visiting this site will not cause therapy ads to follow you around the internet.

Who else touches a page view

Two services are involved in simply loading a page, and it would be inaccurate to claim otherwise.

Netlify (hosting)

This site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard server logs. Those logs can include your IP address, the page you requested, the time, and your browser type. This is ordinary web-server logging, used to deliver the site and keep it secure, not to profile visitors.

Google Fonts

The two typefaces used here are loaded from Google’s font service, which means your browser makes a request to Google and Google can see your IP address and browser details as part of it. No font-related cookie is set. If this concerns you, blocking third-party requests in your browser will not break the site — the text simply falls back to a standard serif and sans-serif.

This website is not a clinical record

It is worth separating two different things that people reasonably confuse.

This website is educational. The worksheets and tools are self-help material, they are stored on your device, and nothing you do with them creates a clinical record or a treatment relationship. Filling in a worksheet does not make you a client, and Dennis does not see it.

Actual counseling services are different. Once you become a client, your health information is protected under HIPAA and Texas law, kept in a separate clinical system, and governed by the practice’s Notice of Privacy Practices, which you receive and sign at intake. That notice — not this page — is the document that describes how your protected health information is handled, along with the specific limits on confidentiality, such as suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult and situations involving a serious threat to someone’s safety.

Put simply: this page covers the website. Your Notice of Privacy Practices covers your care. If you are a client and have a question about your records, ask directly rather than relying on this page.

Email is not secure

Standard email is not an encrypted channel, and neither is a text message. Both can be intercepted, misdelivered, or read on a device someone else has access to. Use them to arrange a conversation, not to send anything you would be uncomfortable having read by someone other than the intended recipient. If a message needs to be private, say so and it can be moved to a secure platform.

Deleting what you’ve saved

You are in full control of everything the site has stored, because all of it is on your device.

  • One worksheet: open it and use the Clear this sheet button. It asks for confirmation first.
  • The tracker history: open the mood and stress tracker and use Clear all check-ins.
  • Everything at once: clear site data for this domain in your browser settings, which removes every saved worksheet, the reframe workspace, and the tracker in one step.
  • A consultation request you already sent: email drsteel01@gmail.com and ask for it to be deleted.

Adults only

This practice serves adults, and this website is intended for adults. It is not directed at children, and no information is knowingly collected from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent a consultation request, please get in touch so it can be removed.

Changes and questions

If this page changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date at the top changes with it. There is no mailing list, so there is nothing to notify — the current version is always the one you are reading.

Questions about anything here are welcome, and they do not obligate you to anything. Email drsteel01@gmail.com.
